IPRoadshows.com is a calendar of upcoming trainings and events pertinent to brand owners that are fighting the battle of fake goods. This site can be used as a quick reference to check on immediate law enforcement training events. We regularly represent our clients at these trainings, we can do the same for your brand.

Why IP Roadshows? IPRoadshows.com was born after speaking with an HSI agent at a Champlain, NY training. She had heard agents from other offices talking about the ‘IP Roadshows’, and kept asking her supervisor when the IP Roadshow would come to their port. We thought it a fitting name for the traveling brand representatives going from town to town sharing IP authentication & enforcement tips.

Vaudra Ltd. Attends Conference, & Trains Law Enforcement on West Coast

We attended the IACC West Coast Law Enforcement Roundtable/Brand Summit in Lakewood, CA, in mid-January 2012. Representatives from the U.S. Attorney’s Office, HSI, LAPD, local Sherriff’s Office’s, as well as, many brand owners were in attendance. The Summit afforded an opportunity for industry and enforcement representatives to discuss the current state of counterfeiting, as well as, emerging trends utilized by counterfeiters. Attendees and panel members also discussed using Federal prosecution in fighting IP crimes, the LAPD’s tactics, and brand owner’s strategies used to pursue counterfeiters, online and on the street. The day following the Summit, we participated in a training for state, federal & local law enforcement, and trained the officers on authentication tips for identifying counterfeit goods bearing certain clients’ trademarks.

We’ll be collecting non-perishable items from businesses and persons in the area that would like to bring their items to our place of business. Every year this time families go without food and we want to do what we can to help needy families in the metropolitan area of Charlotte. We also want to thank everyone ahead of time for donating.

On November 2, 2011, OpSec Security is holding its second session in the Landmark IP Litigation Series, discussing the civil action – The North Face Apparel Corp. and PRL USA Holdings Inc. v. Fujian Sharing, et al. Vaudra Ltd.’s investigation created the foundation for the action through website analysis, evidential purchases and informant-base dialog. Working closely with long-time colleague, Roxanne Elings, at Greenberg Traurig LLP, the civil filing resulted in a precedent-setting contempt order against Chinese online counterfeiters. Randall Rabenold, owner of Vaudra Ltd., will be speaking on this panel about the case, along with Roxanne Elings, Ellen Brooks of Ralph Lauren Corporation, and Evan McWilliams of The North Face.

Lakewood man arrested after linked to $1.6 million counterfeit shirt scheme

LAKEWOOD, NJ, July 27, 2011 – As a result of our investigation on behalf of brand owner, Ralph Lauren Corp., detectives of the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office (OCPO) arrested Steven Binder and seized over 13,000 counterfeit Polo Ralph Lauren polo shirts. The investigation started from a posting on LinkedIn, and proven efforts led us to Binder’s warehouse in Lakewood where he was preparing the goods for shipment to his customers. When the investigation took us to Ocean County, we contacted the Prosecutor’s Office to determine if they would be interested in prosecuting the case and executing an arrest and seizure. We worked with the OCPO to ensure they had the evidence needed to support their action, and coordinated the meeting with Binder at the warehouse to ultimately seize the goods.

Tory Burch Awarded $164 Million Judgment Against Internet Counterfeiters

NEW YORK, June 10, 2011 /PRNewswire/ — A federal court in New York has awarded luxury lifestyle brand Tory Burch $164 million in damages against operators of hundreds of “rogue” websites selling counterfeit versions of Tory Burch’s signature Reva ballet flats and other Tory Burch footwear, handbags and accessories. The award is believed to be the largest ever issued in the fashion industry against online counterfeiters.

NYPD Intelligence Division 10th Annual 9-11 Golf Tournament – 2011

For the past nine years, the Intelligence Division of the New York City Police Department has hosted the Intelligence Division 9-11 Memorial Golf Outing. This annual golf tournament commemorates the 23 NYPD Police Officers who gave their lives while serving the people of New York City on September 11, 2001. The tournament will be held on Thursday, June 23, 2011 at the South Shore Golf Course on Staten Island. Vaudra Ltd., is appreciative to the NYPD, and values the sacrifices made by the officers every day, especially the ultimate sacrifice made by those 23 officers on 9-11. We are proud to show our support as one of the sponsors of the tournament.

Chinese Internet Ring Foiled

Vaudra Ltd. has completed an investigation into 130 Chinese websites selling fake The North Face and Polo Ralph Lauren apparel to U.S. customers through 6,500 Internet domain names. The investigation is the first of its kind, one of which investigative techniques applied went beyond any obvious or routine domain characteristic associations. Conducted on behalf of the law firm Greenberg Traurig in New York, legal observes are quoted as saying that this is largest case of its kind. Court documents that were unsealed reveal that the organized Internet ring has moved $780,000 a month in fake apparel. The court ruling allows defendant accounts to be frozen in U.S. banks and U.S. third-party payment providers. The case was reported by Women’s Wear Daily and is the third Vaudra Ltd. investigation published by the WWD within the last five years.
