With this friendly greeting when stepping off the third-floor elevator at the Launch Factory in Charlotte, it was hard not to feel more comfortable for this podcast interview. After getting acquainted with the hosts, Christian & Reece, over coffee before the session, we enjoyed chatting about some of my experiences after nearly 20 years as a private investigator.
From starting as a “baby PI” to CEO & now business owner, it has been a journey filled with growth, opportunities & challenges. The hosts had some thought-provoking questions including whether I would trade a gold bar for my current role, what happens when the evidence uncovered may not be what our client had hoped & one of my favorite undercover moments.
In the course of the conversation, we also had a chance to talk about undercover investigations as a whole, foundational aspects of undercover dialog (aka pretexting) & what we attribute some of our success to when gaining intelligence from these interactions. The Hollywood persona of ‘investigators’ also came up so we discussed a few of the distinctions when comparing fiction to reality of what private investigators can legally do.
All in all, it was a blast – and after a huge sigh of relief (at least on my part) for making it through without completely tripping over my tongue, we enjoyed a relaxing lunch in the Charlotte City Club with beautiful views of the city.
